Giveaway ~ Photosmart Printer

Over at 5 Minutes for mom, they are giving away a brand new HP Photosmart printer.

This is hot-off-the-press, high-tech fun!

Today, Tuesday August 28th is the big launch date for the HP Photosmart A626 Compact Photo Printer.

  • It’s tiny!
Don’t start thinking you need to clear off a shelf for another full size printer. This cute little Photosmart Printer needs almost no space. It’s only about 10 inches wide, 4.5 inches deep and 5 inches tall.
  • The print quality is exceptional.
I was astounded at the quality of the photos I printed. I do not believe anyone would be able to guess which photos I printed on this printer and which I had professionally printed.
  • It’s portable.
A little handle makes it easy for you to take your printer with you to scrapbook parties, and you do not even need to bring your computer. It can run on batteries, or you can plug it in to any power outlet. Then you can simply pull your memory card from your digital camera, plug it into the printer and start printing. So as you scrap you can decide which photos you want to print and at what size.
  • You’ve got lots of options of how to transfer your photo files to the printer.
The folks at HP really made sure this printer supported your favorite way to transfer files. You can use a memory card such as an xD-Picture Card, Compact Flash I and II, Memory Stick or a Secure Digital MultiMedia Card. Or you can send photos directly from your computer using either a USB cable or an HP Bluetooth wireless printer adaptor. If those aren’t enough options, you can also connect a PictBridge digital camera, or a USB flash/thumb drive or even an iPod!
  • You can print different sizes of photos.
The printer can support several different sizes of paper including the commonly used 5 x 7 and 4 x 6. It can also print panoramic photos on 4 x 12 photo paper, and several other sizes such as 4 x 8 photo cards, photo stickers and more.
  • It can connect to computers running Microsoft Windows and Mac computers.
If you’re using Windows XP or Vista, or Mac OS 10.3x or 10.4x your computer will be fine connecting and sending files to the printer. But remember, you can use the printer without a computer.
  • You can customize your photos directly on the printer.
You don’t even need to load your photos into a photo editing program on your computer. You can remove red eye, sharpen blurred photos, improve brightness, color and contrast at time of printing. You can also get creative by drawing on your photos or adding frames, captions, clip art and special effects.
  • It’s so easy to setup and use.
You can have your printer setup and printing in minutes. (And no, you do not need to call your husband. LOL) The printer comes with a quick setup guide and the printer’s online help guides you through the steps as well.

Top 10 facts about Orlando

I haven't been to Orlando since I was 5 years old, but I really want to head back there!

Here are some interesting facts about Orlando:

1) According to Carlson Wagonlit Travel's 2006 Travel Trends Survey, Orlando is the 2nd most popular domestic travel destination in the country (with Las Vegas being 1st).

2) Out of the estimated 50 million tourists who visit Orlando each year, over 2 million are international visitors, with the majority of foreign tourists coming from the UK.

3) There are now 20,000 to 25,000 rental properties in Central Florida, mostly located near the theme parks.

4) The official nickname of the city of Orlando is “The City Beautiful,” although it is also known as “O-Town.”

5) Ever wonder why there are so many Olive Gardens and Red Lobsters in town? Orlando is the corporate headquarters of Darden Restaurants, which also runs the Bahama Breeze, Smokey Bones, and Seasons 52 restaurants.

6) Even though few people outside of Florida knew where Orlando was before Walt Disney World opened in 1971, the city of Orlando had been around for more than a century before that; It was incorporated in 1875.

7) Orlando is the county seat of Orange County, Florida, although the vast citrus groves for which the county was named no longer exist.

8) Before there was Disney, there was also a considerable amount of cattle ranching in Central Florida; you can still see cattle grazing along certain stretches of the 417 GreeneWay Expressway.

9) Although many of Orlando’s citizens (especially the most famous ones) are originally from somewhere else, there are a few celebrities who were born and raised in Orlando, including Wayne Brady and Delta Burke.

10) Beat generation icon Jack Kerouac lived in the College Park neighborhood of Orlando during the time his novel On the Road was published in 1957.

ING Direct Open Account & Get $25 Free

I've been with ING direct since 2001 & I love them! They have great interest rates, very easy to use website & just all around a great bank. You can open a savings account with as little as a $1. They have money markets with no minimum. Back in 2001, I opened a money market account for both my daughters for only $100. What bank allows that? Now they have electric orange which is a paperless checking account. It is really cool, no paper checks to worry about. You can pay bills electronically or have ING mail a paper check for you. That means no cost in envelopes, checks or even stamps. They also have a great line of overdraft protection. If you need to use it, they just charge 12% interest on it. Really cool!

Right now if I refer you, and you start the account with at least $250 you will earn $25 bonus. Email me if you are interested & specify if you want ING Savings or Electric Orange (checking).

Screensaver That Reminds You To Power Down And Save Energy

I’m not one of those pretty screensavers.
I don’t have hypnotic, swirly lights.
I am not a fish tank.
I won’t display your name in crazy 3-D text.
I’m not even that colourful.

That’s because, in the end, what I really want you to do is turn me off.

Because if you can see me it could mean your computer doesn’t need to be on.
Which means it’s wasting energy, and, in its own small way,
helping add to the problem of global warming.

So, if you are always forgetting to shut your computer down when you won’t be using it for a while, you might be in need of this screen saver from Useful Screen Saver.
